The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District Board of Education welcomed its newest member, Jim Coursey, who was sworn in on December 16, 2024, to represent Area IV. Coursey, who moved to Middleton with his family in 2023, brings a unique blend of public service experience and personal investment in education to the role.
"Education is the reason I moved my family to Middleton," says Coursey. His connection to MCPASD runs deep – his eldest daughter attends Middleton High School, while his younger daughter is a fifth grader at Kromrey Middle School. The family's commitment to education extends beyond their own children; they currently host two foreign exchange students, one at MHS and another at Clark Street Community School.
Coursey's professional background spans nearly three decades in public service, with significant experience in program development and community support. He previously served as Director of the Horizons Institute, where he managed continuing education programs for foster and adoptive parents focused on early childhood development and effective parenting techniques for children in crisis.
"Both are thriving because of the care, encouragement, and attention they receive from their teachers and the whole MCPASD community," Coursey notes about his daughters' experiences in the district.
Coursey will serve on the board until the April election.
