Meet Tony Dugas

Hello! I am Tony Dugas, the Director of Student, Family, and Staff Engagement!

Black History Month holds immense significance for me. It serves as a reminder of the strength and resilience of the Black community. I believe it is a powerful platform for education and dialogue, promoting diversity and equality.

Here at Middleton-Cross Plains, we always support initiatives and events that celebrate Black History (year around), fostering inclusivity and honoring contributions.

Join our Schools in Celebrating Black History Month with Engaging Events!

Our schools are actively involving both students and staff in various events throughout Black History Month. To take part in any of these events, please contact our schools for further details.

Kromrey Middle School

  • 5th Annual Door Decoration Contest | All Month Long : These announcements focus on African American history, achievements, and important figures. They serve as informative and educational segments that aim to increase awareness and understanding of Black history and its significance.

  • BHM Chili Cooking Contest | February 22, 2024: Participants prepare their best chili recipes and present them to a panel of judges. It is an opportunity for cooking enthusiasts to showcase their culinary skills and to experience a variety of chili recipes from different contestants.

  • BHM Student Dance | February 23, 2024: This dance is specifically designed for students to gather and enjoy music, dancing, and socializing.

  • Young Sirs BHM Morning Announcements : The Young Sirs group is an all-male club dedicated to teaching essential values and morals to our black and brown students. Students will be conducting announcements to inform their classmates about the accomplishments and contributions of the Black Community.

Glacier Creek Middle School

  • Starting February 1st, Daily Announcements: Tune in on Mondays and Fridays for special announcements recognizing Black trailblazers' remarkable achievements and contributions.

  • Gallery of Heros (Door Decoration Contest): Staff and students exhibit creativity by participating in a Door Decoration Contest, transforming their classroom doors into vibrant canvases highlighting the achievements and spirit of Black leaders throughout history.

  • BSU Excellence Dinner, February 28th: Students, staff, and the community will come together to recognize and honor the achievements, leadership, and talent of the Black community. To ensure we can provide for all attendees, the school staff is gratefully accepting donations for this event. Let's unite and make this celebration a success!

Pope Farm Elementary

Pope Farm started Black History Month with a dynamic kickoff featuring two amazing PowerPoint presentations. Tailored for K-2 and 3-4 grades, these captivating presentations delved into the lives and impactful achievements of black leaders who have left an indelible mark on our society.

The students were left inspired and empowered by the incredible contributions of these remarkable individuals.
