How to Become a Substitute

 Edustaff is excited to partner with MCPASD, servicing all substitute teachers, para educators, special education para educators, and clerical substitutes within the district.  Edustaff is comprised of exceptional staff who live by and embody the company’s core values to shape the way we impact the Middleton-Cross Plains community; excellence, whole-heartedness, and servanthood. Edustaff uses Frontline (Aesop) technology to allow substitutes to search for and accept assignments at any time via a website/mobile app.

 To apply, follow the steps below:

Visit www.edustaff.org

  1. Click Apply, yellow button on top right corner, then Start Application.

  2. Move through each step of the application until all the gold stars on the left are filled in. Save your credentials (email address and password) so that you are able to log in under Continue Application to complete at a later time.

  3. The State of Wisconsin requires you to complete and submit a negative TB assessment/test which may be completed by your local PCP or Concentra located at 358 Junction Rd. (608) 829-1888. (Edustaff will reimburse you the cost of the appointment/test, please ask for a detailed receipt to submit with your application.)

  4. The last step of the application is to select a 2-hour training workshop date to attend. This training course is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, upon completion you will be able to apply and obtain a three-year substitute license.

Substitute Teacher Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in any field.

  • Attend an Edustaff substitute training workshop.

  • Hold a valid and current Wisconsin Teaching License OR a Substitute Teaching License from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. (Edustaff is happy to assist all new substitutes with obtaining a subbing license through DPI.)

  • Complete and submit a negative TB risk assessment/test.

Para Educator and Special Education Para Educator Requirements:

  • Obtain High School Diploma

  • Attend an Edustaff substitute training workshop.

  • Complete and submit a negative TB risk assessment/test.

*Additional requirement for Special Education Para Educator’s include applying for and obtaining a special education program aide license. (Edustaff is happy to assist you with obtaining this license.)
