Middleton High School is proud to announce that 22 seniors have been named Finalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recognized the following Middleton High School students among more than 15,000 Finalists nationwide: Huda Baloch, Annika Batt, Ethan Bo, Arya Choudhury, Eunice Chung, Benjamin Dyar, Raymond Feinberg, Arya Girirajan, Harry Jin, Eun-Ho Lee, Jesse Mai, Akshay Manna, Abhinav Mundas, Venkat Peddinti, Nikhil Quintin, Aydin Rosas, Bodi Russo, Ethan Sanders, Jonathan Schecher, Raghvi Sethi, Li Ying, and Zoey Zinger.

In September, Middleton High School announced it had the highest number of Semifinalists among the 120 Wisconsin high schools with Semifinalists this year.

"We’re so impressed by our 22 National Merit Scholarship Finalists,” said Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue. "Their commitment to academic excellence and their leadership set strong examples for their peers. As we get closer to graduation, we are excited to hear more about the next chapters in their academic journeys."

To advance to Finalist standing, Semifinalists submitted a detailed application showcasing their academic records, extracurricular activities, leadership experiences, and honors. Typically, about 95% of Semifinalists advance to Finalist level, with approximately half ultimately selected to receive a National Merit Scholarship. Nearly $26 million in scholarship funds will be awarded, with around 6,870 scholarships available.

"Our high school and our entire community are proud of these seniors’ outstanding accomplishments,” said Middleton High School Principal Peg Shoemaker. “They made the most of the opportunities available in our District, and their dedication to learning is inspiring. We look forward to learning about their post-high school plans.”

Scholarships will be awarded later this month through July. Students can earn four types of scholarships – including National Merit Scholarships, corporate-sponsored merit scholarships, corporate-sponsored special scholarships, and college-sponsored merit scholarships – ranging in value from $2,500 to $10,000.

Established in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation conducts this annual academic competition to honor the nation's scholastic talent and encourage students to develop their abilities to the fullest. Learn more here.
