The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District is excited to welcome Katie Kavanaugh as the new 4K/Early Childhood Principal. Ms. Kavanaugh brings over 13 years of experience in education, including 3 years as a school psychologist and 10 years as an administrator.
Ms. Kavanaugh most recently served as the Pupil Services and Special Education Director/School Psychologist for the Barneveld School District for the past 10 years. Prior to that, she worked as a School Psychologist in the Madison Metropolitan School District for 3 years.
"I am thrilled to be joining the Middleton-Cross Plains team as the 4K/Early Childhood Principal," said Ms. Kavanaugh. "I have a passion for working with young learners and a strong belief in the value of early childhood education and intervention."
Ms. Kavanaugh holds a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master's in Educational Psychology and an Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is also licensed as a Director of Special Education/Pupil Services and Principal in Wisconsin.
With her diverse background and leadership experience, Ms. Kavanaugh is well-equipped to guide the District's early childhood programming. She is committed to fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
In her own words from her personal statement, Ms. Kavanaugh stated: "Consistent with my background as a school psychologist, I believe every child is capable of and has a right to learn and succeed in the educational system. Every child that enters a school building needs to feel safe and nurtured."
