That's a wrap for the CODE CS Club for the 2023-2024 season!
This year's team was comprised of about 30 5th-8th graders and 20 high school facilitators. Throughout the school year, they enjoyed learning about people who have made a difference in the world. They also learned about Python Programming and explored concepts such as algorithms and problem-solving.
They were also joined by several community guest speakers, including Riti Jindal and Damini Dhawal, who presented on their careers in computer science. One of the presentations even included a robot that students were invited to engage with!
Students also met with a former alumnus and Code CS leader who is now pursuing a post-secondary degree at UW-Madison.
Ending on a high note, the team celebrated their final meeting at the end of March with an award ceremony and invited family members to attend and play games the students created throughout the season.
The celebration not only marked the end of the season but also a farewell to long-time club leader and inspirational educator Lori Hunt.
Lori is a Computer Science Teacher/ Makerspace Coordinator at Middleton High School. Throughout her career in MCPASD she has served as a leader not only in the classroom but also for many clubs and student organizations. She also played a pivotal role in developing and overseeing the MHS Makerspace.
While we will undoubtedly miss Lori, we wish her the best of luck in her retirement and thank her for her many years of service to our District.
