From the start of the pandemic, our district's number one priority has been keeping students, staff, and families safe. Through multiple mitigation measures such as adding HEPA filters to all school cafeterias, universal masking, and encouraging all staff to get vaccinated, we have been able to do our part to fight this pandemic.
When our district learned about the possible approval for vaccinations in students ages 5-11,
Our health services and operations team jumped at the opportunity to provide three school vaccination clinics to our families.
"We could not be more excited to provide this service to families, and to see them sign up so quickly made all the hard work worth it," said Assistant Superintendent of Operations Lori Ames.
The first day we emailed families to select their time slots, all were filled within hours. Since then, a few slots have become available; if your student attends our district, they will be eligible to sign up here.
Additional information on signing up for a spot at our clinic will be listed at the end of this article.
MCPASD worked with SSM Health to host the clinics. The first one was held on Thursday (11/11) at Pope Farm Elementary; the following ones will be held at Northside on (11/15) and (11/16) from 3:00 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Abbey Tucker wrote to us via Facebook expressing her thanks to our district for holding the clinics.
"Just wanted to quickly pass along a huge thanks for holding the vaccination clinics for the students," Tucker wrote. "My kids went to Pope Farm last night, and it was extremely well organized. We arrived 2 minutes before our appointment and were in and out so quickly. MCPASD really has gone above and beyond in handling this pandemic."
1,400 students will be vaccinated after all three clinics are complete. Our district is also hosting a booster vaccination clinic for MCPASD staff members; we will have 120 employees
vaccinated once done.
"It was super convenient to schedule through the school," said one MCPASD Parent. "It's close by, it's quick, and we trust SSM Health.
