Northside Principal Sylla Zarov

From a young age, Northside Principal Sylla Zarov knew that she would be a teacher.

“I’m very passionate about caring for our littlest learners and making school a joyful place to be for our staff and students,” said Zarov.

Not only did she choose Middleton as a place to work, but she also wanted to raise her family in this community. Since MCPASD is a smaller district with seven elementary schools, Zarov says she is able to build close-knit relationships with other principals, staff, families, and students.

Our district has always valued our staff, and we consider their feedback when making decisions that impact them. One of the top things Zarov loves about our district is that we make time for our staff to collaborate and plan. 

“It’s easy to close yourself off and work alone, but the power comes from collaborating as a team to make our schools stronger,” she said.

That’s why in 2022-23, we are adding more Professional Development days and Collaborative planning time for our staff. We increased the days from 6 -9.

Northside has a full-time counselor along with a psychologist and social worker. Zarov values that our district is meeting the whole child’s needs by offering these services.

MCPASD takes care of not only our students but also staff with our wellness offerings.

“Our wellness coordinator is setting up a wellness room where staff can go take breaks and have a 10-minute relaxation time to have a warm cup of tea,” said Zarov.
