Middleton High School’s production of Beauty and the Beast was a resounding success, captivating audiences across four performances of this tale as old as time, including a sold-out closing night—a milestone not seen since 2016.
The show featured a magical Tea Party event, where audiences had the chance to meet beloved characters like Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Lumière, and others, while enjoying a special storytime with Princess Belle. MHS Theatre was also delighted to host the Madison Arts for All Choir, who joined in for a heartwarming sing-along and meet-and-greet with cast members after the closing performance.
To make the performance accessible to even more viewers, ASL interpreters were included as an integral part of the closing night show. This was one of the largest shows in Middleton High School history, and the entire production brought together over 90 talented students as they acted on stage, worked behind the scenes, played in the orchestra, or designed the props, sound, lights, hair, and costumes. This is a record high for MHS, showcasing the incredible teamwork and dedication that made this show a triumph. MHS Theatre is looking forward to their production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night in February.
"This is the largest and most involved show Middleton has done in years. Disney calls Beauty and the Beast the hardest show that they have ever written, and really, it's a type of show that most theatre students never get the chance to engage with. Putting this on took an immense amount of sacrifice and work, but we are so proud of our students, and we think that the memories and the skills they developed while putting on this show will last a lifetime," said Technical Director Jonathan Hagberg.
