Kromrey Principal Dom Ricks has always valued the relationships he has built with his colleagues at Middleton-Cross Plains School District.
"I have been able to make connections that I know are going to be for life," said Ricks.
When looking for a place to work, Ricks also considered a district where his son could thrive. He moved from Louisiana and heard excellent things about MCPASD, specifically the work we do surrounding bilingual education and IEPs, which stands for Individualized Education Program.
"The more I learned about Middleton, the more I realized that this is a place I feel comfortable in and a place where my son, who is biracial, could succeed in," he said. "I started working in Middleton, and not too long after that, I moved my son here."
Ricks mentioned his son is both Black and Hispanic. He is currently enrolled in the Two-Way Immersion Program at Sauk Trail Elementary. Ricks and his wife wanted to make sure their son grew up knowing his Hispanic roots and also the language, Spanish.
Aside from his son getting a quality education, another benefit he loves is our Health Insurance Program, which supports all his family members. Ricks also appreciated the support our district offers to employees who may be homeless, food insecure, or dealing with mental health issues through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
"As a principal, I want to take care of my staff so having this resource where we as employees can contact the EAP and they can walk us through any issue we are having and point us in the right direction is amazing," said Ricks. "No other district I have worked for has ever offered something even close to the EAP."
