Each month, the Sauk Trail Mission Team compiles a list of free or almost free activities in the Middleton/Madison area for Sauk Trail families.

Holiday Events

  • Middleton Holiday Open House

    • November 30 10:00am-6:30pm

    • Enjoy hot chocolate and shopping discounts, horse and wagon rides, roasted marshmallows, carolers throughout the day and a tree lighting at 4:30pm.

  • Luminary Lights: Downtown Middleton

    • Holiday lights and events every Thursday in December.

  • Olbrich’s Holiday Express: Flower and Model Train Show

    • Recurring daily, 10am-4pm

  • Holiday Lights at Olin Park:

    • Free admission, Dawn to dusk, until New Year’s Day

December 4, Wednesday

  • Madison Children’s Museum:

    • Free Admission first Wednesday of the month, 5:00-8:00pm

December 7, Saturday

  • Kids in the Rotunda: Kalaanjali School of Dance (Indian Dance)

    • 9:00am, 11:00am, & 1:00pm, Free, Overture Center

  • Home Depot: Tic-Tac-Toe Game

    • Hands-On Workshop for Kids 5-12 years old

    • 9:00am-12:00pm, free, register online

  • WI Institue of Discovery: Science of the Brain

    • Free science exploration. 10:00-12:00

  • Middleton Public Library: Gingerbread Crafts

    • 2:30pm.  Make and take crafts with a Gingerbread theme. Ages 5 and up; no pre-registration necessary.

  • Kids in the Rotunda: Ken Lonnquist (songs & stories)

December 27, Friday

  • Middleton Public Library: World of Robots

  • Interactive demonstrations and information about robots presented by Jack Burrus.

  • 10:00am, all ages, no sign-up required.

December 28, Saturday

  • Middleton Public Library: Rainbow Loom Workshop

    • Grades 2 and up. Create beautiful rubber band bracelets in a variety of styles!

December 30, Monday

  • Middleton Public Library: Kids Yoga

    • Play yoga games, learn songs, act out a yoga story and more to get ready for the New Year! Mats will be provided. Space is limited.
