Park fourth-graders had quite an impact on the Ice Age Trail on Monday.
The students not only hiked the trail but dispersed native prairie seeds with the help of volunteers from the Ice Age Trail Alliance and the Cross Plains Recreation Department.
The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a thousand-mile-long hiking trail located entirely within Wisconsin. It is one of only 1 National Scenic Trails in the country. To learn more about the Dane County chapter of the alliance, check out their website. It includes an events calendar, work day schedule, trail maps and past issues of their newsletter.
"We got some meaningful work accomplished thanks to the students who came out,'' said Kevin Thusius, director of land conservation for the Ice Age Trail Alliance.
