Destination Imagination teams from Glacier Creek and Northside both placed in the top 12 in their respective tournaments at the Global Finals this past week in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Glacier Creek team of Nic Draves, Nick Chiaverini, Nareg Megan, Sam Roquitte, Leo Rossmiller, Tyler Tran and Michael Chiaverini, who goes to Sunset Ridge, finished 11th out of more than 80 teams in their division. Team manager Marty Chiaverini said the team actually finished in the top 10 for its main performance but scored a litte lower on a very difficult instant challenge, which hurt their overall ranking.

The Glacier Creek team finished third at state last month in Stevens Point. The team actually outscored the state's second-place team, the Grafton Dragons, by a large magrin at Global Finals. Chiaverini also thought the team that finished first at state didn't attend the Global Finals.

"We all had a wonderful time,'' Marty Chiaverini said. "The boys really had a fantastic experience and are talking about what they need to do to go back next year. They performed very well.''

The Northside team of Lily Baird, Miles Boswell, Nicholas Ferderer, Sarah Healy, Owen Mosely, Serena Raval and Addy Spence placed 12th out of the 55 teams that competed in their division. The team, which also finished first at state, was managed by parents Barbara Oswald and Corinne Neil.

"They were amazing and once again represented the school and our community very, very well,'' Barbara Oswald said. "You would have been very proud of them. They are excited to share their experiences with their classmates.''
