Northside Elementary School was among 66 schools statewide to earn the Wisconsin School Health Awards from the Department of Public Instruction earlier this year.

Northside was one of only eight schools in the state received the Silver award. The only other school district in Dane County to be recognized was Oregon.

The Silver Wisconsin School Health Award signifies a commitment to providing students with the knowledge and skills to make healthy decisions that will contribute to their academic success. The goal is to motivate and empower Wisconsin schools as they create and maintain healthy school environments to positively affect their students.

The awards will be presented at the Wisconsin School Health Award ceremony on Oct. 26 in Wisconsin Dells.

This awards are in their fourth year. Visit the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction website to learn more.

It is the third award Northside has won over the past few weeks. Northside was one of 544 schools in the United States to be named a Let’s Move! Active Schools national award winner. Northside was also among 328 schools that were recognized as the healthiest schools in America by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
