Jessica Taylor has been named the new principal at Pope Farm Elementary School, which is scheduled to open for the start of the 2020-21 school year.
Taylor has worked the past eight years as an administrator at Hamilton Middle School in the Madison Metropolitan School District, including the past five as principal and three years before that as the assistant principal.
During that time, Hamilton Middle School has earned high marks on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction school report cards. The school also was named a School of Recognition by the Wisconsin PBIS Network.
Before working at Hamilton, Taylor was a new teacher mentor and middle school teacher in Sun Prairie, where she worked for eight years.
Taylor grew up in Watertown and earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from UW-Madison. She has a master’s degree in educational leadership from Cardinal Stritch.
“I have high expectations for myself and everyone around me,’’ Taylor said. “I operate with integrity and kindness and I always hope to inspire those around me. … I am committed to supporting all young people, and removing barriers that exist to ensure all students have equitable access to education.’’
Taylor will join the District on July 1, 2019.
