Nearly 900 juniors from across Wisconsin annually ttend the program, which is in its 77th year. For eight days, the students of the "51st state" carry out the main functions of city, county and state government using basic laws.

The first Badger Girls State was held in 1941. The entire program is a non-partisan, non-political attemp to teach and instill in the youth of America a great love of country. More than 725 high school juniors attended the session last year.
