Park Elementary will once again host a concert headlined by Mollie B on Saturday, Nov. 16.
This year's concert will begin at 1 p.m. and be held in the school gymnasium. The middle of the gym floor will be left open for attendees to dance. It is the third consecutive year the elementary school has hosted Mollie B. Two concerts were held each of the past two years but only one will be held in 2019 due to a scheduling conflict, Park custodian Rod "Peanuts" Esser said. Nearly 400 people attended in 2017 and 2018.
More than 200 tickets have been sold already and only 325 are available, Esser said.
The concert also include Squeezebox and the Jim Busta Band, which includes two-time Grammy nominee Ted Lange. The band was also featured in "The Mule" that was directed and starred Clint Eastwood. The shows lasts approximately 2 hours, which includes a 15-minute intermission. Doors will open one hour ahead of time. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 the day of the show. Seats are not assigned. Call 608-516-1593 or 608-779-0175 to learn more or to purchase tickets. All funds raised will benefit the Park special needs department.
On Friday, Nov. 15, a private polka party will be held for Park staff, along with students and their families, in the evening. Mollie B. and other members of her father's band and dance troupe will also again work with Park students during the school day, teaching them about the history of polka and also working with them on dancing.
Mollie B. has been named the National and International Polka Association Favorite Female Vocalist every year since 2009. She will be accompanied by her father, Jim Busta, and her husband, Ted Lange. Visit the Mollie B website to learn more.
