MHS junior Jade Davis and senior Autumn Meggers took third place at the 2019 Recipe  for Excellence Student Competition held at UW-Stout in Menomonie on Thursday.

Davis and Meggers are part of Tara Bradford's Pro Start Level 2 class.  The competition featured 10 teams from seven schools. Davis and Meggers prepared a pork loin with mashed  potatoes, brussel sprouts with bacon, swiss chard and roasted bell peppers served with a creamy dijon sauce.

Each team developed two identical pork entries plus accompaniments such as a vegetable, starch and sauce.

The event was co-sponsored by Wisconsin Restaurants Association Education Foundation/Wisconsin ProStart.  The event featured teams of two students preparing an entrée, all while being judged on teamwork, knife skills, sanitation and taste. Industry professionals will serve as judges – and provide critical feedback to students on their dish. The top three teams received trophies and scholarships.

It was the second year of the event.
