Thirty MHS Investment Club students participated in the Finance and Investment Challenge Bowl regional tournament at CUNA Mutual Group headquarters in Madison on Thursday, Dec. 5.
A team of seniors consisting of Jacob Vogt, Casey Waddell, and Kip Sullivan tied for third place in the championship bracket. They were awarded a cash prize.
Other students who competed included Franklin Hu, Katy Bouril, Anders Clark, Sam Eggert, Trey Belgiano, Ezra Joseph, Ian Staresinic, Sean Ruhly, Julia Zhang, Nancy Williams, Emma Pinder, Drake Lehmann, Aarush Jain, Rohan Kommuri, Jack Westbrook, Sanjay Suresh, Jacob Beckman, Zach Prichard, Koby Renfert, Tim O'Malley, Christian Glassford, Alex LaCour, Drew Fait, Josh Barutt, Kevin Spahn, Guiseppe Rioldi, and Hayden Sprysl.
The Finance and Investment Challenge Bowl (FICB) is a financial literacy program for high school students, teaching a wide range of financial literacy topics. The FICB culminates in a live, college-bowl tournament where teams compete to determine regional champions that will compete at a state competition. Asset Builders is the main sponsor of FICB and is a Wisconsin-based non-profit that has won two Governor's Financial Literacy Awards over the past 10 years.

Meanwhile, students from Personal Finance and Economics classes teamed up to get some financial literacy knowledge from UW Credit Union's Mark Klingele recently. A variety of topics were covered including budgeting, credit, banking, credit unions, investing, post-high school planning, and much more. UW Credit Union has been a partner with the District and has had a branch at MHS since January 2017.
