MHS will celebrate Homecoming Week on Sept. 23-28 for the 2019-20 school year.

For the sixth year in a row, the Homecoming parade will be held in the evening. This year's parade will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. The parade will begin near Clark Street Community School and end in front of the Performing Arts Center on Lee Street. The parade should finish by 6:30 p.m. More than 20 MHS clubs and athletic programs participated in the parade last year.

MCPASD Communications Director Perry Hibner said the parade was moved to the evening in hopes that more District students and community members would be able to attend. The parade used to be  held on Friday afternoon, which made it difficult for students at other MCPASD schools to attend.

All six District elementary schools along with Glacier Creek and Kromrey middle schools have participated in the parade in recent years. All of the schools have been invited to participate this year, MHS counselor Marcy Smith said.

“It's been great to see more students and their parents attending the parade now that we've moved it to the evening,'' Hibner said. "As always, It’s going to be a fun evening.’’

A tailgate for all freshmen will be held just south of MHS starting at 4:30 p.m. Spirit Night festivities will begin after the parade at Breitenbach Stadium at approximately 6:30 p.m. Everyone will be able to play on inflatables on the Breitenbach Stadium field for 75 minutes, athletic director Bob Joers said.

"We see this as a community event and encourage everyone to come out,'' Smith said.

The annual powder puff football game between the junior and senior girls will start at 8 p.m.

The MHS band is expected to perform along with the dance and cheer teams. Concessions will also be available. Festivities should end around 9 p.m.

MHS has a theme for each day of the week:

Monday: Kindergarten
Tuesday: Twin
Wednesday: Tropical
Thursday: PJ/Crazy Hair
Friday: Cardinal and White

An all-school assembly will also be held on Friday morning.

MHS hosts Janesville Parker in a Big Eight Conference football game at 7 p.m. on Friday night. The Homecoming dance will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 8 to 11 p.m. in the Courtyard. Tickets can be purchased on the FeePay website beginning the week of Homecoming.
