Coordinator of Mindful Education and Leadership Development Betsy Delzer shared highlights from the past year, including efforts related to awakened justice, at the Board of Education regular meeting on Monday, June 24.
Delzer reminded the Board she spent 15 years as an art teacher in the District before moving into this role three years ago.
She was invited to speak at a U.S. Chamber of Commerce conference in Washington, D.C. in June 2018. She also taught yoga at a Garrison Institute workplace conference in August 2018.
Besides sharing site-based efforts to help students and staff, she is particularly proud of the work she and MHS family engagement specialist Antonio Hoye are doing to develop awakened justice, including participating in a four-week online course. They also presented for 60 minutes at a Minority Student Achievement Network conference and spoke at the International Institute of Restorative Practices in Belgium in May.
The Board also watched a 100-second video showcasing mindfulness efforts for students and staff.
