Assistant Superintendent Sherri Cyra and Director of Business Services Lori Ames updated the Board of Education about the attendance boundary committee process at its regular meeting on Monday,  Jan. 14.

Cyra shared a draft timeline for the process with the Board. A facilitator needs to be selected and recruitment of potential committee members would begin in February. After the Board approves the facilitator and members, the committee would likely meet starting in March and going until November.

The District is recommending that Drew Howick, who attended Monday's meeting, facilitate the process. He has worked with DeForest Area and is currently working with Verona Area. He shared with the Board some of his background and experience in facilitating this type of process.

Cyra also shared a draft of evaluation criteria the committee would use when evaluating possible changes to the attendance boundaries. Board president Bob Green asked about the representation from all families, size of the committee and the goals for the process. There was also discussion on the criteria information.

Members of District Services Team reviewed boundary change criteria from several districts in drafting these recommendations. Cyra noted the criteria align with the District strategy map and MTSS framework. The process and criteria will come back for approval at the Jan. 28 regular meeting.
