MHS senior Brendan Sheehan recently received the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.

The Hobey Baker award is given annually to the best collegiate men's hockey player. In 2003, the Hobey Baker Foundation announced that high schools could nominate someone their coaches deem worthy for the award.

"We chose Brendan because he is a great person,'' MHS boys hockey coach Derek Ward said. "He exhibited great character throughout his time as a Cardinal. He is a player that led all of the workouts office with a true drive to make the whole team better every time.  He played with the same kind of drive.''

Sheehan was a forward on the Cardinals this season. He had four goals and four assists in 23 games this season. He also had eight points as a junior

"He is the type of kid that every successful team needs as a leader,'' Ward said.
