Chromebook purchase program again available

Printer-friendly version

The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District will once again be offering Google Chromebooks for purchase by current ninth-grade students.

The cost is $250, but students with a significant economic need can apply for a scholarship to reduce the cost to $40.

Chromebooks are laptops from Google running the Chrome Operating System. They are designed to be used in conjunction with Google Apps, but will run any of the apps and extensions for the Chrome Browser. They work best when connected to the internet, but files can also be accessed offline.

The family is responsible for monitoring all access and filtering at home, but when used at school, it will use the school filtering automatically.

Please see this document for a more detailed explanation and a request form. The purchase request form must be returned by Sept. 13 and Chromebooks should be available to be picked up on Sept. 20 during All School Resource time.

If you have questions, please e-mail Director of Technology Services Jim Blodgett.
