The 10th annual All Dressed Up event that provides free prom dresses and accessories to area girls will be held on Saturday, March 8 at Madison College.
The event runs from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Truax Campus, 1701 Wright St. in Madison. Online registration is strongly encouraged and starts Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. Check out a flyer for more information.
Nearly 300 girls attended last year’s event as volunteer personal shoppers helped the girls search through hundreds of dresses and tables of purses, jewelry and accessories to find their prom ensemble. Gift cards will be available and there are even businesses there to do the girls' hair and nails, said Lisa Schell, who helps organize the event.
"It's a ton of fun,'' she said.
The event is sponsored by the Junior League of Madison. The Junior League is committed to improving the quality of life in the community through initiatives benefiting the health and well-being of women and children.
"The All Dressed Up event helps us accomplish this mission by giving girls the gift of confidence and style for their special night,'' said Carrie Smith, who is a member of the All Dressed Up committee.
You can also learn more by visiting the Junior League's website along with their Twitter and Facebook pages. If you have additional questions, please e-mail Smith. Anyone interested in volunteering to help at the event, should also contact Smith.
Finally, if you are interested in donating dresses, accessories or jewelry, they can be dropped off at any Klinke Cleaners in Dane County from Feb. 10-22.
