Kromrey students recently proved that a penny can still make a difference.
Students in all three grades at the middle school held a Penny Challenge. Coupled with money raised on at Culver's in Middleton on Tuesday night, the students raised $1,401.56 for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
"That was an exciting day,'' Kromrey teacher and Student Council adviser Ellen Fox said on Tuesday. "What an amazing amount of money KMS contributed this week. We are very thankful for the support.''
The seventh-graders took first place in the Penny Challenge and will receive a free custard party from Culver's. The sixth-graders took second and the eighth-graders third.
On Tuesday, Culver's gave 10 percent of all proceeds to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society on behalf of Kromrey. Culver's aslo gave each Kromrey student council members a free token for their hard work, Fox said.
