KROMREY MIDDLE SCHOOL CHANGING BUS DISMISSAL

We need a few days this school year to practice bus dismissal before we start school next year.  Please pay close attention to the following points:

  • Parents/Guardians WILL NOT be able to park/pick students up along the school side of Park Lawn beginning May 29th.
  •
  •  The main entrance/lot will be open, the remainder of this year, for dismissal pick-up with two lanes along the front loop sidewalks.
  •
  •  PLEASE keep the lane from the back lot open so staff can exit as of May 29.
  •
  • THERE WILL BE NO ON-SITE PARKING OR DRIVEWAY ACCESS AS OF JUNE 10, 2013.  We do not have a date on when parking on-site will be made available next school year, or beyond.
  •
  • PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY about where you will pick your student up next school year.   Please consider using district transportation, bikes or walking next school year if at all possible.
  •
  • PLEASE BE EXTRA CAUTIOUS DURING THIS TRANSITION, IT IS NEW FOR EVERYONE.

END OF THE YEAR LEADING UP TO THE LAST DAY
FIELD TRIP/ACTIVITIES EXPECTATIONS

We have had an outstanding year with a big drop in negative behaviors reported an school suspensions.  We have also seen a big upswing in the positive behaviors referred to the office.  We are currently running at 4 positive referrals to every 1 negative.  That is outstanding!
As we draw closer to the last day field trips/activities we wanted families to be aware of the high expectations we will continue to have for students so they can continue to keep the privilege of attending the following activities:
Privileges Include:

** 6th grade students enjoy a breakfast together, take a trip to a movie theater, picnic back at school and then go off to the Middleton Pool during the afternoon.

**
7th grade students visit
Kalahari in the Dells for the day

**
8th grade students enjoy a day together at Governor Nelson State Park, an 8th Grade Completion Ceremony and Celebration

**
ALL STUDENTS have an all school assembly on Friday, May 31

Students referred to administration these final weeks will begin to take part in a discussion about a "Three Strikes" procedure we have used for the past eight years.  Students disrupting the learning environment will begin to earn a strike toward losing the listed privileges.

Our concern
heightens when we face disruptive behavior near the end of the year. Excitement is high and thinking before acting becomes troublesome.
KMS administration will continue to work with students to find solutions for disruptive behavior to avoid a second and third strike.

Administration will communicate with families when a strike has been given.

Students who earn a third strike will be assigned community service at KMS for the last day.

5th Grade Visitation Day: May 24th

We look forward to welcoming next year's 6th graders from Sauk Trail, Elm Lawn and Northside for a visit and tour.

There will be NO SCHOOL for current 6TH GRADERS ONLY on this day.

Private school families interested in joining one of the tours listed above can contact the Kromrey Student Services office at (608) 829-9538 to make arrangements for May 24th.
