The second phase of road construction in Cross Plains is scheduled to begin on March 30. There are four stages of construction scheduled for Main Street-Highway 14 moving from east to west that will be completed over a number of months.
The construction will take place south of Glacier Creek Middle School and won't impact parking. However, because parts of Main Street will likely be torn up until October, it will undoubtedly cause inconveniences for many when trying to get to Glacier Creek.
If you are driving your child to school or picking them up, please provide yourself with some extra time once construction begins. And please use extra caution when driving or walking because we expect to have higher traffic volume with Main Street under construction, Glacier Creek principal Tim Keeler said.
If your child plans to ride their bicycles to school, please remind them that we expect increased automobile traffic near Glacier Creek while construction is going on and to use extreme caution, Keeler said.
In addition, please take a few minutes to look at the maps provided by the village and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation on the construction project. They will give you a better idea about how things should proceed.
If you would like to learn more about the project, a construction public information meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Glacier Creek Middle School cafetorium.
