The Middleton Performing Arts Center (PAC) is an 899 seat theatre operated by the Middleton Cross- Plains Area School District.   It has a 50’ x 20’ proscenium opening with and 80’ x 30’ stage, a 50’ fly loft and a 12’ apron that doubles as an orchestra pit when needed.

Originally opened in December of 2002, the PAC is currently in the process of being updated while closed for construction for the larger referendum to the high school.  During this time, the PAC will receive upgrades to the sound system, a transition to energy efficient LED house lights, new carpet, refurbished seating and finishes and well as infrastructure upgrades to ensure modern theatrical capabilities for our students, community and renters well into the future.

As part of the high school building project,  MCPASD is adding a 199 seat Black Box theatre as well. The black box is just as the name implies - a big black box, with a catwalk around the perimeter and a fully walkable tension grid above.  Seating and risers will all be modular- so the room can be configured in most any way imaginable.  We’ll see the room set up with stadium seating, in the round, as a lecture hall / movie theatre, fully open as a dance studio, set up for a fully immersive theatrical performance. The Black box will have a dedicated sound system, HD projector and screen, along with a fully LED lighting equipment package. 2 small dressing rooms and a dedicated restroom with make this space a standalone asset to the school district, the community and the Performing Arts Center.

The back-stage area is being modified as well to meet the needs of both spaces. The scene shop and paint area is nearly doubling in size, the backstage paging and monitoring system is being modernized to ensure that we meet the needs for fully produced live events right here in Middleton.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in early February 2021, and will be open only for school district use during the Spring as we get acquainted with the new spaces and traffic flow throughout the addition to the High School at large.  We plan to open for community use in the summer of 2021 and be fully open for outside rentals for most any event shortly their after.

We hope to see you soon.
