2-1-2 Cohorts Blended Model

Cohorts reduce the number of students in our school buildings during the school day, allowing students to maintain physical distancing requirements, thereby limiting close contact between students. By doing this, we hope to avoid significant student and staff absences that may result in school closures or multiple transitions between in-person and all-virtual learning. *

Specifically, this model:

  • Allows for 6 feet of physical distancing in classrooms.

  • Limits the number of students in the building during passing periods

  • Decreases the amount of potential exposures for students and staff that may lead to mandatory quarantines

  • Students and staff will wear face coverings throughout the day and on the bus at all times other than when they are eating. Meals will be eaten in designated spaces as directed or in their classrooms, based on the specific building.

  • Students will follow their school schedule throughout the day, following the safety and distancing expectations if/when transitioning between spaces.

  • Staff will assign seats and predetermine activities in every learning space to mitigate risk between staff/students and to provide the best opportunity for contact tracing, as needed.

  • No visitors, field trips, in-person performances, or large grade-level gatherings or assemblies will occur.

  • Cohort groups of students attend school either Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday, full-days.

  • Elementary school: 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Middle school: 8:20 a.m. to 3:36 p.m.; High school: 8:25 a.m. to 3:44 p.m.  See the weekly schedule below. Students will report directly to their first-period class upon arrival at school and exit the building immediately at the end of the school day.

On Wednesdays, this model will include additional surface disinfecting and building-wide cleaning.

*Two-Way Immersion (TWI) staff are working through program design details for students in the TWI program regardless of which model our TWI families select. It is our goal to continue supporting high-quality bilingual education in both the universal and fully virtual models.
