The MHS bands kick off their regular concert season with their Winter Band Concerts on Wednesday, Dec. 13 and Thursday, Dec. 14.
Each concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at the Performing Arts Center.
On Dec. 13, the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band Block 2 will be performing. Highlights include Eric Whitacre's beautiful ballad “Sleep” and light works by Arnold, Bernstein, and Prokofiev. This concert will also feature the MHS clarinet choir performing dances from Tchaikovsky's famous ballet, The Nutcracker.
The concert on Dec. 14 will feature the Cardinal Band and Concert Band Block 1. This program includes large-scale classical works including the Bercuse and Finale from Stravinsky's Firebird and Robert Russell Bennett's Suite of Old American Dances. Shorter works by Sousa and John Mackey will round out the program.
Receptions will follow both concerts. Both concerts are free and open to the public.
